Diocesan Pro-Life Liturgy

In our Diocese, Catholics come together monthly for a time of prayer and celebration of the Holy Mass offered for the protection of all life and for the end to abortion. This Pro-Life Liturgy rotates to different parishes in the Rockford Diocese each month. Prayer time begins with the Rosary for Life at 6:40 pm. Followed by Mass at 7:00 pm. There is also a time for veneration of the Blessed Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe with refreshments to follow.

Check the bulletin for the location of the Mass each month. Your prayers can make the difference in the fate of a child's life.

Helpers of God's Precious Infants

On the second Saturday of the month, the 8:30 a.m. Mass is offered for the protection of the unborn. After Mass prayer continues at the Northern IL Women's Center, which is closed on Saturdays or participants may go to the Nazareth Chapel and continue in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament in union with those who are at the abortion mill.

Legislative E-Mail Tree

The e-mail tree is activated by the Diocesan Respect Life Office to keep members up-to-date on important Pro-Life legislation that affects the citizens of Illinois. Receipients of the legislative e-mail can then contact Senators and Congressmen to urge them to vote for life. Watch for the yearly sign up in the bulletin.

Life Chain

The first Sunday of October is designated for the Life Chain which is a peaceful witness to the dignity of all life. Participatns line the streets of Alpine and East State (which makes the shape of a cross) holding signs and praying from 2:00-3:00 p.m. for the end of abortion in our nation and especially in our city of Rockford. This is a city wide event.

Prayer at the Abortion Center

Every Tuesday and Friday members of the Respect Life Committee pray at the Northern Illinois Women's Center, which is on the corner of Broadway and 10th St. The Rosary begins at 9:30 am. followed by the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

The last Friday of the month is Holy Family's designated day to pray at the abortion mill.

Please consider joining our Respect Life Committee and our spiritual director, Fr. Ronelo Muede as we pray for the hearts of the women to be changed so the leave the abortion mill and give their children life.

Respect Life Committe

The parish Respect Life Committee meets from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every other month in the St. Theresa Room of the Harte Center.

Round Table of Life Issues

A panel of priests, doctors and attorneys present a Pro-Life topic from a Catholic moral, medical and legal view. The panel is then available for a question and answer session. Past topics have included Stem Cell Research and End of Life Issues.

Spiritual Adoption

"If you could save someone's life by saying a prayer, would you do it?"

Parishioners are asked to say a daily prayer for the protection of an unborn child who is in danger of being aborted. The "adoption" begins in May and ends in February with a "baby shower" in which the "adoptive parents" are asked to bring a baby item to the Church which will then be donated to the Rockford Area Pregnancy Center.

The Spiritual Adoption this year will begin again on the weekend of May 19th and 20th.
