Sponsor/Candidate Activity Worksheets
All Sponsors Only Activity
Sponsors are asked to write a letter to the Confirmation Candidate giving them some helpful advice or suggestions on choosing/staying on the “right path” as they enter the High School years. Please include some guidance on how God can be relied on in these often-difficult times. The letter should be given to the Confirmation Candidate by Christmas.
All Candidates Only Activity
After reading the letter the sponsor wrote, the candidate should make a small poster (1/2 of poster board) that is designed to reflect the advice that the sponsor provided in the letter. This should be done using words and artwork. The art may be drawn or pictures may be cut from magazines or books. Photocopies of the letters may be submitted with the poster-but are not required. Be sure the Candidate’s name is on the poster, and that it is turned in by January 21st.
Candidates & Sponsors Shared Activities
Candidates and sponsors must then choose 1 of the following possible 4 choices and work on it together.
(#3 & #4 are ideal for situations where Candidate & Sponsor do not live near each other)
1. Attend Sunday Mass together: After Mass, introduce your sponsor to the priest that said Mass. Complete Worksheet #1 together, and turn it in to your teacher by January 31.
2. Participate in one Community Service activity together: Complete Worksheet # 2 together, and turn it in to your teacher by January 31.
3. Pray together: Visit www.sacredspace.ie - on 3 separate days. Follow the guided prayer selection for the date(s) that you visit. Both the Confirmation Candidate and the Sponsor should complete Worksheet #3 and either mail it to the address on the worksheet- or turn it in to student’s teacher by January 31.
4. Personal Commitment of Discipleship: Both the Confirmation Candidate and the Sponsor should make a personal pledge to focus on improving one area of their own life - that would be pleasing to God - and make a point of working hard at this for 2 weeks. The candidate and sponsor should correspond with one another during the 2 weeks (via e-mail, phone, or letters) to encourage one another to keep their commitment. Specific personal goals may be kept private if that is desired - but each party can encourage one another and pray for the other to reach their goal. After the 2-week period, both the candidate and the sponsor should complete Worksheet # 4.
