Students in
grades K through 5 visit the library with their classes at scheduled
times each week. Stories are read to the lower grades (K-1) and the students
check books out for a one week period. In second through fifth grades, library and research skills are taught in conjunction
with classroom lessons. Students in grades 2-5 check books out for two
weeks. Volunteer parents and grandparents help students with the selection
of books and in checking them out.
Students in our Pre-3 and Pre-4 programs will visit the library for storytime at the discretion of their teachers.
Junior high
students visit the library from their literature class or during study
hall with a pass from the literature teacher. They check books out for
a two week period.
The Accelerated
Reader program is used in grades K-8. Accelerated Reader is a program
that tests reading comprehension. Holy Family LRC has the entire collection of
AR tests.
Special projects may be researched and worked on in the LRC by arrangements between the classroom teacher and the LRC staff. When the resources of Holy Family's LRC are not sufficient for research, books may be checked out by the teacher from the public library and used in the classroom for a three week period.
