Service Opportunities
- Market Day - Support Holy Family Catholic School by
helping set up and distribute products that people have purchased. Two
or three committed students needed for the year.

- Student Helpers
- Students can help in a teacher's classroom before or after
school or during their study hall. Fill out the Parent Permission Form
to sign up ASAP!
- Holy Family Festival - September 18, 2011 - Student volunteers are needed to assist in setting up, taking down, and assisting at the various activities at the Holy Family Festival.
Holy Family Parish Service Opportunities
- Altar Servers - Christian Ministry hours for regularly
scheduled times, weekend Masses and for funerals and weddings (if no money
is accepted).

- Ushers for Family Mass - October through May on Sundays
at 9:30 am. Four ushers are needed each week, with extra help needed
for Christmas and Easter Masses.

at 9:30 am. One lector needed for each Mass.

- Baby-sitting for Creator Kid's Nursery - Two students
needed per Sunday. Nursery will be in the Hospitality Room of the
Church on Sundays at 9:30 am. Adult supervisors will be present each
week.

- Jr. High Rosary Making Club - Join other students the
first Tuesday of every month in the Hospitality Room of Holy Family Church.
Students gather from 3:05 to 4:00 to make rosaries for others.

- Vacation Bible School - Volunteer for next summer's
VBS. The hours worked in June 2011 apply to the 2011-2012 school
year.

Eucharistic Adoration -
Students may join with their parents in worshipping our Lord in the Nazareth Adoration Chapel. Sign up for an hour to adore our Lord and to pray for the needs of your families, our Church, our community and our world. Live out in a powerful way the Spiritual Work of Mercy - to pray for the living and the dead.
Assisted
Living/Nursing Home Facilities
- St. Anne's Center - A variety of service opportunities
are available at St. Anne's Center. Students must call
before going to St. Anne's, and must inform them if you want to go as a group
of three or more.
- During the week, students may join and help
with the following evening programs:
- Tuesday - Bingo at 7:00 pm
- Thursday - Bingo at 7:00 pm
- Service opportunities also available on weekends: Sunday
afternoons from 2:30 pm - manicure/nails.
- Students must be accompanied by a parent and complete an orientation
session.

who are confined to wheelchairs, visit with the residents, play cards,

- Help out by being a "pinsetter" during their bi-monthly
bowling activity nights from 7:00-8:00 pm. Sign up with Miss Green. Parents should stay with their child to assist during this activity.

Life House Properties - The Atrium
- Volunteers visit with the residents, assist with crafts, walk with residents, play Bingo, and share Christ's love.

Various Community Service Opportunities
Adopt-A-Child
- Help support the four children Holy Family students have
"adopted" during the past several years through Children's International.
Fill out Commitment Form to give a certain amount of money
each quarter or generously donate whenever you can!
- Dulce (5 years old) from Guetemala
- Estefani (6 years old) from the Dominican Republic
- Yennifer (11 years old) from the Domican Republic
- Belinda (17 years old) from the Philippines
American Red Cross Shelter
- The American Red Cross Shelter is now the Rockford Rescue Mission's Women's Crisis Center which serves the needs of the homeless
in Rockford.
MAYA'S House - Holy
Family students can help homeless children in the Rockford area by donating
supplies. MAYA'S House
is a daytime drop-in center for homeless mothers and their children.
- Give to those in need by providing the following materials:
- 1 box of breakfast cereal
- 1 package of juice boxes
- 2 packages of Easy Mac or canned pasta
- 1 package of cleaning wipes of baby wipes
- 1 package of kleenex or napkins
- 1 package paper towels or toilet paper
Five hours of community service for each kit assembled (limit 2
per quarter). Place all supplies in a bag obtained from Miss Green.
Be sure to have a Christian Ministry Stewardship form for her signature.
St. Elizabeth's Food Pantry - Holy Family students can help those in need of food and basic supplies by bringing in the items on the list below.
- Please provide the following materials:
- 2 jars of peanut butter
- Canned fruit (3 family size cans/plastic bottles)
- 1 box of pancake mix
- Toothpaste or shampoo
- 1 bar of soap
- Deoderant
- 1 package of diapers
Five hours of community service for each kit assembled (limit 2 per quarter). Place all supplies in a bag obtained from Miss Green. Be sure to have a Christian Ministry Stewardship form for her signature.
Hunger Connection
- Activity the second Saturday of each month from 9:00 am until
noon. Volunteers also needed the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month
from 6:00-9:00 pm. Please contact in advance. Groups of students
are welcome!! To learn more about feeding the hungry in our area,

R.A.M.P.
- The Regional Access & Mobilization Project, R.A.M.P. , in our community helps clients
with various disabilities to fully participate in society. Participate in any of the following: the DeKalb Wheel-A-Thon in September; the Boone County Wheel-A-Thon in April; and the Rockford Wheel-A-Thon in June.

Adopt-A-Road
- Assist in caring for the world God gave us by picking up trash
on our designated road: Forest Hills Road from Landstrom Road to Riverside Road.
- Watch for scheduled clean-up dates throughout the year.
Recycling/Collection
- The following items can be collected and turned in each quarter:
- Pop tabs for Ronald McDonald's House
- gather 250 in a bag for 1 hour of community service. Two bag limit
per quarter.
- Ink jet Cartridges for Holy Family Catholic School - six
used cartridges earns 1 hour of community service. (No Epson
cartridges please - only small cartridges from home printers.)
- Box Tops for Home and School - gather 250
box tops in a bag to earn one hour of community service. Two bag
limit per quarter - that's a lot of cereal!!
- Canceled Stamps for Oblate Fathers - 250 stamps
earns one hour of community service. Flag stamps are not accepted!
Extra value for foreign and commemorative stamps. Last year this
organization raised over $2700 through canceled stamps! It is important
to cut away all extra paper within 1/8" of each stamp. Collect
and turn in zip lock plastic bag, labeled with your name and number of stamps.
Educational Service Opportunities
Discovery Center Museum
- Volunteer opportunities at Discovery Center Museum available
ONLY to 7-8 grade students. Students must go through
the Discovery Center's training program.

- Volunteer at the library's Rockford Public Library's NE Branch.

Midway Village
- Volunteer at various programs at Midway Village: W.W.II event
on September 24-25, the Scarecrow Harvest Festival on October 8-9, and the All Hallows' Eve event on October 22.

Poor Clare Monastery
- We are blessed to have a contemplative order of nuns that live here in our city! The religious sisters depend upon the generosity of our community to provide for their needs. They have given their lives to Christ to pray for all in the world. If you are interested in supporting the Poor Clares, please call to find out their current needs. Contact at 963-7343.
