CLASSROOM OBJECTIVE

The goal of physical education class is to gain knowledge through the physical, cognitive (knowledge) and affective (social) domains.  These areas make a well rounded person, and the students can use these skills throughout their everyday lifestyle.  Special emphasis will be given in the concepts of individual fitness, teamwork and cooperative efforts, as well as positive sportsmanship during play.

CLASS ACTIVITIES

Students will dress for class in the school P.E. uniform and tennis shoes.  These items will be kept at school in the gym locker room.  If a student does not have their uniform on a P.E. day, they will be given a short written assignment to complete their participation grade for the class missed.

Each class starts with students dressed, in squads, attendance, prayer, and warm-up exercises.  The subject matter of a certain activity will be introduced for each unit.  Skills and knowledge of rules will be introduced, practiced, reviewed, and will lead to game play.  Class participation, sportsmanship, attitude and respect are the most important aspects of grading, and a daily grade will be given in these areas.  In addition to skill testing (pre- and post-), each unit will end with a written quiz covering terminology, equipment, and rules of the game.

Only a parent or doctor’s note will be accepted for a student to sit out of class.  Some classes will be held outside in cooler (fall/spring) weather.  Students may wish to keep a sweatshirt or sweat pants in their locker.  Only plain colored sweats are allowed.
