JUNIOR HIGH MATH COURSE SYNOPSIS
(Prentice Hall)
Topics (not in any specific order)
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division expressions and
equations
- Statistics and probability
- Metric and customary units
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of fractions
- Geometry
- Ratios, proportions, and percents
- Integers
- Formulas for perimeter, area, and volume
- Solving for variables
Grading
- Tests: Students will be notified of tests at least 2 days
prior.
- Quizzes: May be given any time.
- Homework: Homework will be assigned on most days. I will
not assign homework the night before a test, in order to allow time to
study.
- Class Participation: I encourage students to get
involved in my class whether asking questions or answering questions.
I also expect students to take notes in class and write down examples from
the board to look at later.
Office Hours
I only ask that students let me know
the day before if they are coming in before or after school, so I can be sure to be in my room.
Before school (7:30-8:00)
After school (3:10-3:45)
Mondays: Before school
Tuesdays: After school
Wednesdays: Before and after school
Thursdays: Not available due to Student Council
Fridays: Before and after school
Students are welcome to see me for help during their 9th hour studyhall period if they give me a pass to sign. Students need to ask for permission prior to working together in studyhall.
