English
In English, we will be focusing on seven of
the eight
parts of speech (noun, pronoun, verb, adverb, adjective, conjunction,
and interjection) and how to use them correctly in writing. We
will
also be doing a lot of multiple paragraph writing, including
narratives,
informative, persuasive, creative, descriptive, research, and
poems.
We will be using a five step writing process as we write (1.
Prewrite/brainstorm
2. Writing rough draft 3. Revising to improve writing
4. Proofreading to fix errors 5. Publishing final
draft).
As writing assignments come home, keep in mind that many students are
average
writers and will be graded as such. Writing will be graded on a
"C"
average (A and B for above average, D and F for below).
We will do a lot of work in all subjects to make
sure correct spelling, capitalization and punctuation are accurate in
writing.
If assignments in any subjects are to be in complete sentences, the
students
will be graded on accuracy of capitalization, punctuation and spelling
in certain instances.
