3rd Grade and Technology

The focus of computer use in 3rd Grade is to use computers independently for learning and to demonstrate knowledge. The goal is to:
- Lay a foundation for the development of ethical, moral, and safe computer use
- Learn to use and care for hardware properly
- Develop the use of home row keys for touch keyboarding
- Strengthen academic development through use of software programs
- Use application programs like AppleWorks, Kid Pix, and Print Shop to demonstrate knowledge
- Develop basic visual literacy awareness for presentations
- Use the Internet to locate information
- Develop a foundation for using technology as a problem-solving and decision-making tool
