Supply List 2008-09

Parents interested in learning about our school as a spiritual and academic environment for their children for the 2009-2010 school year are invited to a school information meeting on January 22, 2009 at 7pm in the school.  Select school staff members will be available to share information about our school, its mission and curriculum, and to answer questions of parents attending.  This meeting is intended for adult attendance.

SAVE THE DATE, January 27, 2009, for our Volunteer appreciation Mass & dinner. We are shifting the event from May to January, during Catholic Schools Week (a "maybe" slower time of year in between sport seasons) in an attempt to accommodate more of our families.
The evening is a celebration of thanksgiving to all who give of their time and talent helping make our school community the success that it is. Our volunteers are hosted by our school staff.
Our tentative plan would be to begin Mass at 6 pm with dinner immediately following at approximately 6:45 pm. Our planning committee wonders if this time frame is practical for our families. Please feel free to give me some feedback if the time frame does not work for you.

Information for Boylan Tennis Programs available in school office.

Information for Boylan Wrestling Club for grades 2nd thru 8th grade is available in the office.

CATHOLICS AT THE CAPITOL! Rally for Catholic Schools, March 4, 2009.  We need adult representation as the private school community in Illinois continues to be heard!  Click on the link for more information.

Protecting God's Children  All volunteers coming into contact with children in any school, sports, parish, scouting, etc. activities must have taken the Protecting God's Children workshop before volunteer student contact begins. There will be a PGC workshop each month during the school year at locations throughout the Rockford area. Check the principal's newsletter for PGC upcoming dates.

The 2008-09 school year calendar is posted on this website.  Click on the CALENDAR link.

Illinois law affecting 5th grade physicals has changed effective the 2008-09 school year. The required 5th grade physical exam has been moved to 6th grade.  To accommodate the transition year 5th graders for 08-09 do not need a physical; those students will be required to have a physical for the 09-10 school year.

For the 08-09 school year:

a student going into 5th grade will need a sports physical if playing sports;

a student going into 6th grade will need a sports physical if playing sports but does not need a physical exam again (because their 5th grade physical counts);

Dental exams are required for students entering kindergarten, 2nd and 6th grades.

NEW ILLINOIS STATE LAW REQUIRES COMPREHENSIVE EYE EXAMS FOR CHILDREN STARTING SCHOOL

The new law, effective January 1, 2008, requires comprehensive eye exams for children entering kindergarten or enrolling for the first time in public, private, or parochial elementary schools in Illinois.  Children will be required to have the eye exam performed only by qualified eye doctors--such as optometrists and ophthalmologists. The law calls for the eye exam to take place within one  year prior to kindergarteners starting school in the fall and for all students who are entering school for the first time in Illinois.  Proof of the eye exam must be submitted by October 15 of each school year.

The financial aid application for the 08-09 school year is available in a downloadable file.  Click on FORMS & DOCUMENTS.  Application deadline is May 15.

Registration packets for families new to the school can be picked up from the school office.
