THANK YOU – for the gift and remembering me during Catholic Schools Week. Your thoughtfulness and support are deeply appreciated.
REGISTRATION – Registration envelopes for next year are coming home today. If you have a new student coming next year, please stop in the office and pick up a peach color paper to return with your registration.
Dear Parents,
It always amazes me how very important our faith is in times of great joy and great sorrow. If you could have seen how prayerful and devoted the children were when we said the rosary last week for Mrs. Riney you would have been very proud.
Children are so resilient ~ much more so than adults. The children feel pain and sorrow for their teacher; however, they are comforted in the fact that she is in heaven always to be happy in God’s love. This is what we teach them as parents and teachers.
Coming together as a community of believers to pray, tell stories, laugh and cry is what makes us different and special.
Many thanks for all your payers, emails and concern. It is very much appreciated by the entire staff.
Blessings,
Becky

OTHER NEWS & INFORMATION
SCHOOL CLOSINGS – If school closes due to bad weather it will be announced on all three television stations. Father Lipinski will call the television stations. The message will read all Rockford Catholic Schools. If school is let out early I will email all the parents. I hesitate to close early with so many working parents. You are always welcome to pick up your child/children early.
WARM CLOTHING – The children will be outside in the morning and for recess so be sure they are dressed properly ~ winter coat, hat and gloves.
PARKING LOT – The parking lot continues to be a concern. People continue to park in the fire lane, in front of the teachers exit and in the left turn lane out of the parking lot. If there were a fire or we were in need of an ambulance they would not be able to get close to the building. PLEASE do not park in the first lane, teacher exit or turn lane. If someone else is picking up your children ~ grandparents, babysitters etc please inform them of this also.
5TH GRADE PARENT ORIENTATION – In the spring we will invite all 5th grade parents to school for a meeting about entering junior high. The teachers will explain their programs and answer any questions you may have. The fifth grade will also spend a morning in junior high after the 8th grade has left for the year. We want the students and parents to feel confident and at ease as they begin a new year.
STUDY SKILLS – We will be beginning a study skills course in grades 6-8. Students need help with organization, time management, and note taking to develop higher level thinking skills. Using the assignment notebook is the first step in being organized and that is why we will require each student to write their assignments in the notebook.
ED CREDIT LETTERS - Letter have been sent home for you to complete the Education Expense Credit on the Illinois 1040 tax form. This credit is for grades K-8 only.
EXTENDED CARE EXPENSES FOR 2011 - Extended care statements for 2011 are by request only. If you need a copy of your extended care charges and payments for 2011, please call Cathy at 815-398-5331.
